School at Sea

Tomorrow I am getting aboard of the Regina Maris. Surprisingly, I have fitted everything into the three bags but it was a tight fit. At around ten o'clock tomorrow I will go to the ship with my parents and brother and at around two we will have to say good-bye to each other. My brother and dad I won't see for the next six months. Even though I am really utterly excited to be leaving on this trip, I'm reluctant to say good-bye to my family. However, on Thursday I will see my mum again because she will be sailing with us from Amsterdam to IJmuiden which will take about two hours. IJmuiden and Amsterdam are connected by a canal which opens into the North Sea. Some of my other family and family friends are also coming to IJmuiden to say farewell. My little eight year old cousin even got a day off of school so he could see me. Saying good-bye to my mum will probably be very difficult because I know that after that I won't see any more family members. However, everybody else on the boat will be in the same situation as me, so we will understand each other.
